Our Story

The Story Behind Our Name

The name “Opal Ever After” was created from a combination of my birthstone (Libra girl here), my love of Disney, and my passion for helping couples truly experience & live their best day ever.

The opal stone is known to symbolize hope, purity, truth, good luck, and faithfulness. Throughout history, it’s also been associated with love, passion, creativity, and confidence. Opals reflect light in a way no two stones ever do, representing the individuality of every love story and the beauty that unfolds when two people choose forever.

Needless to say, choosing a name that aligned so perfectly with both myself and the heart of weddings felt like it was simply meant to be.

The Ever After Experience

The Experience That Led Me Here

When I first began my role at Smokey Hollow Venue, it didn’t take long, only a handful of weddings, to recognize a major gap: couples desperately needed an experienced coordinator. Many hadn’t hired a professional planner, leaving well-intentioned mothers, friends, or relatives to take on the responsibility. My heart ached watching the stress snowball on what was supposed to be their best day ever. These designated helpers were overwhelmed by vendor questions, unsure about setup or design decisions, and disappointed that they couldn’t actually be present in the day. I found myself stepping in wherever I could, even though I was brand new to the venue and learning as I went. Then came the moment I’ll never forget: one couple’s hired coordinator canceled the week of their wedding! Truly heartbreaking.

Fast forward through the unforgettable, and extremely challenging, year of COVID. I witnessed some of the most beautiful moments, alongside some incredibly difficult ones. I could share countless stories, but I’ll save you from a novel.

During this time, I dove headfirst into learning the ins and outs of running a wedding venue while absorbing every detail of what goes into planning for a couple’s special day. I was fortunate to learn from some of the best planners in the area, soaking up their guidance like a sponge. I eagerly connected with local vendors, assisted planners at other venues, asked endless questions, observed the intricacies of floral design, and took every opportunity to grow. Even though I wasn’t hired to be anyone’s planner, I wanted to be the best resource possible for every couple at Smokey Hollow.

Along the way, I fell completely in love with weddings. I was living, breathing, and dreaming about them. Then one day, a couple asked me a question that changed everything: “Why aren’t you my planner? I need you on my team—and I won’t take no for an answer.”

I was stunned… and deeply honored. They saw something in me before I fully saw it in myself. And then it happened again. And again! Even reputable vendors began asking when I was going to step into the role of planning events. Each time, I was beyond humbled and grateful—and that’s truly where this journey began.

WE’d be honored to be part of your celebration
